Sisslerfeld
Sisslerfeld is a peri-urban area in Switzerland spanning four municipalities and a growing industrial park that already hosts around 10,000 workers, with this number expected to double over the next 20 years. This rapid development creates interconnected challenges in mobility, energy, and governance. The area faces high car dependence, significant cross-border traffic, energy- and fossil fuel-intensive industrial activity, and coordination challenges linked to its multi-municipality and cross-border context.
Sisslerfeld is being developed as a Living Lab for integrated peri-urban transition. It builds on several complementary ongoing initiatives (visit: https://reallabor-sisslerfeld.ch/). Within periASTY, the Living Lab focuses on demonstrating practical mobility, energy, and governance solutions in a real-world industrial and peri-urban setting.
